Enugu governor Dr Peter Mbah has organised a cultural/dinner night in honour of the governors elected under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in preparation for the PDP governors’ forum scheduled for Wednesday 17th July, 2024.

The cultural night which had in attendance the 13 PDP governors appearing in Igbo traditional attire, featured cultural dance displays in Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba, by the state cultural troupe.

Naijacentral online reports that the event attracted dignitaries from all walks of life including the immediate past governor of Enugu state, Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and his deputy, Lolo Cecilia Ezeilo, serving and past national assembly members, serving and past state assembly members, immediate past Local Government chairmen, members of the executive council, among other top government functionaries.

While welcoming his colleagues to Enugu, governor Peter Mbah said Enugu is one of the few states that have enjoyed uninterrupted stewardship of the Peoples’ Democratic Party.

He described the PDP governors’ forum as a platform that enables the governors to come together to deliberate on issues that affect not only the party but their various states and figure out better ways of surmounting them.

Although the agenda of the meeting was not made known, the forthcoming party congresses, Edo and Ondo governorship elections, the internal challenges facing the PDP and the state of the nation are expected to dominate deliberations.

The governors are the chairman of the PDP governors forum, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, the vice chairman, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, the vice chairman of the Nigerian governors forum, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Douye Diri of Bayelsa and Ahmedu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa.

Others are Umo Bassey of Akwa-Ibom, Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Agbu Kefas of Taraba and the host governor, Dr Peter Mbah of Enugu State.

The governors converged on Enugu Tuesday evening and registered their presence at the government house, Enugu.

The PDP governors’ forum is scheduled for Wednesday 17th July, 2023.
