The Oyo State Government has approved the release of N900 million as counterpart funding for the construction of roads totaling 68 kilometres in different parts of the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr Dotun Oyelade made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ibadan.
Oyelade said that the executive council gave the approval during its weekly meeting.
He said that the counterpart funding would ensure that the government accesses N16.7 billion from the International Development Association and the Lagence Francaise Development Agency.
He said that the road projects include the rehabilitation of the 8.43km Fashola Farm Settlement; the 37km Alako/Idi-Iya/Batake/Olowa Farm Settlement, Ijaye road; the 22km Oloko/Oyo Junction, and Ikere Dam road.
“The executive council also approved the improvement of the Light-Up Oyo State infrastructure, which has now extended beyond Ibadan metropolis, at a total cost of N2.6 billion, as operational and maintenance expenditure for the year 2026.
“Council also approved the upward review of the contract sum for the Oyo State Business Process Automation (BPA) project.
“The project, which was initially awarded for N400 million will now be awarded for N578 million, in the light of contemporary economic reality.
“Some of the benefits of the BPA project are to streamline civil service operations, strengthen record management and accountability across MDAs,” he said.
According to Oyelade, the BPA project will also enhance the speed and quality of government services to the public, and train technical staff to ensure long-term maintenance of the software solution.
