Enugu State governor, Dr Peter Mbah says his administration was ready to partner any genuine investor in the Livestock business in order to boost the production of meat both for local consumption and for exports.

Dr Mbah stated this on Monday when he received delegates from the Livestock Production and Resilience Support Project, L-PRES, who were in his office on a courtesy visit.

Naijacentral online reports that the delegates were led by the National Project Coordinator, Sanusi Abubakar.

While assuring the team of his administration readiness to partner L-PRES on the areas that are necessary for the achievement of the common goals and to ensure the success of the project in the state, governor Mbah expressed joy for the choice of Enugu to build a veterinary hospital, noting that a suitable location has been provided for the project.

The governor said his administration has put in place some policies and legal frameworks to help unlock the economic potentials of the livestock sector in order to enhance the value chain across the different animal husbandry space.

The governor who said there was no reason the state should not be producing more than enough meat, said the Public Ranch Management Agency law was aimed at building a structured market that will enable the state process, package and export meats to other countries.

Dr Mbah who thanked L-PRES for the provision of vaccines for livestock farmers, reiterated that Enugu is safe and secure for business, tourism and hospitality, saying it was his administration’s desire to make the state a premier destination.

Earlier, the L-PRES National Project Coordinator, Sanusi Abubakar while commending the governor for his assistance for the success of the project, said the visit was also to see how the project can partner the state government on the ranching business.

Abubakar further expressed the readiness of the L-PRES to support the state government’s policies and programmes on animal husbandry.
