Enugu – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Tony Nwobodo, has expressed his goodwill message to delegates from Enugu State ahead of the party’s 2026 National Convention scheduled to hold at Eagle Square, Abuja, on March 28.
Nwobodo, an indigene of Amechi in Enugu South Local Government Area, joined other party members in wishing the delegates a successful and impactful outing at the convention.
He described Eagle Square as a venue synonymous with major national political events, noting that the convention represents the culmination of an extensive democratic process within the party.
According to him, party members nationwide had actively participated in activities ranging from ward meetings to local government and state congresses, as well as zonal consultations, all of which laid the groundwork for the national gathering.
Each stage has contributed to building consensus, harmonising interests, and preparing the ground for the national convention where critical decisions will be formalised,” he said.
Speaking on developments in the Enugu State chapter of the party, Nwobodo disclosed that Dr. Martin Chukwunweike emerged as State Chairman, while Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie was elected Secretary, alongside 35 other members of the State Executive Committee.
He noted that the 37-member executive emerged unanimously at a well-attended state congress held at Michael Okpara Square.
“In the same vein, 15 zonal executives—five from each of the three senatorial zones—also emerged to strengthen the party’s structure across the state,” he added.
Nwobodo urged the delegates to act as worthy ambassadors of Enugu State at the convention. He also commended Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership style, describing him as a strategic and effective leader.
His political sagacity and deep understanding of governance have been evident. Managing sensitive and potentially divisive issues ahead of the 2027 general elections requires tact, inclusiveness, and strategic foresight, all of which Governor Mbah has demonstrated,” he said
