In a Move to address the challenges of Unemployment in the country, the federal ministry of Labour and Employment has trained forty young Nigerians from south east zone in various vocational skills of their interests.

Naijacentral Online Reports that the participants were drawn from across the five eastern states, and were trained on various skills of their interests such as pipe fitting and plumbing, Hair dressing, body care , Tailoring,Hotel and catering work amongst others.

The Deputy Director Skills Development and Certification Dr. Oluyemi Ojo Charged the grauands to strive to add values to the economy of the economy.

“ we want everyone to know that vocational skills is in thing now, we want the trainees to leave this place and have the understanding that they have been empowered, they can from now start on their own, train others people, they can on their own add value to the economy of this country, we will empower them financially and the ministry is also giving them start up pack “

The State Controller and Director Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment , Mr. Chuka Umunna , Explained that , the aim is to create employment in the country.

”The ministry has trained them and has impacted on their lives, because from the training they will be able to train others, so they will employ others and it will reduce unemployment in the country, so it will have multiple effect on the economy , when we train , we certify you, you can use it all over the world”

The principal, skills upgrading and vocational training center (SUVTC) ,

Mr. Obira Udeh encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious of the vocational skills acquired.

“ Today we are celebrating the graduation of forty students trained in various fields such pipe fitting and plumbing, Hair dressing and Body care, Tailoring and Dressing making, Hotel and catering work, drawn from all the states in the south East Geographical zone.

It is one thing to train students on various skills and it is another thing to empower the trained students with finance and starter packs with which to bolster their businesses

The SUBTC trained the students by equipping them with vital skills and knowledge while the federal government took it a step further by providing the students with finance and starter packs “

The Instructor, plumbing and fitting, Mr. Chiagozie Egwu Advised young Nigerians to get a skill to enable them to be useful in the country.

”For the past Eight months to one year now we started this training, today we are graduating Ten graduands and others will follow suit because we are admitting new people. The idea is that , we are saying that even if you go formal school and acquire formal education there is need for you to have vocational skills that is what will make us move forward.
In America there are shortages in vocational skills set especially plumbing fitting, if you must japa from this country you must have skill so that you won’t constitute nuisance in that country”

Some of the Beneficiaries Chinenyenwa Esolonwa and Valentine Ejiofor expressed gratitude to the federal government on opportunity given to them and promised to utilize them by adding value to the economy of the country.

There were good will messages from stakeholders as well as presentation of certificates to the graduands .
