German agency trains Edo youths, corps members in employable skills

Programme Component Manager on Gender and Inclusion of GIZ’s Skills Development for Youth Employment, Helen Igboka, urged the participants to leverage on digitalisation and entrepreneurship to advance their careers.

Igboka said there were opportunities in digitalisation, entrepreneurship, legal migration services and various employment promotion measures of the GIZ that the corps members could leverage.

She said these opportunities under its Sustainable Economic Development Cluster (SEDEC) would advance their careers post-NYSC service.

While receiving the new Head of Service, Tinubu said, “You’re stepping into very big shoes, and we pray that God continues to guide you, provide you with wisdom and enhance your integrity to serve this country and the civil service in the most successful way.”

The President also thanked the outgoing HoS for what he called “an exceptional tenure.”

He said, “Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan must be thanked for her exceptional tenure as Head of Service. We thank her for her commitment, duty and loyalty.

The Benin Electricity Distribution Company raised the monthly billing of the institution to N250 million from N88 million.

This contentious billing, consequently, led to the disconnection of the two campuses of the university by the BEDC authorities.

The development later led to a protest by the students on July 3, after weeks of power outages and supply of electricity from generating sets.
