In his avowed commitment to riding the state of crime and criminality, the Enugu State government has demolished a duplex confirmed to be a kidnappers’ den at Amabo, Owelle-Court in Awgu Local Government Area and threatened to demolish other buildings that have been identified to be criminals’ hideouts.

Speaking to journalists on behalf of the state government, the chairman, Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA, Mr Uche Anya said governor Peter Mbah has zero tolerance for banditry and insecurity.

Naija central Online reports that the duplex was also confirmed to have been used for harbouring ammunitions and other dreadly weapons.

While stating that the prime suspect has been arrested and prosecution is underway, Mr Anya said the incident occurred on May 25, 2024 when a young man was abducted in Enugu town and brought to the place, an action that triggered concerns from every quarter of the community and led to the state government’s intervention.

He warned anyone who has a building in Enugu but lives overseas to hand over the property to a trusted caretaker, stating that the government would not spare any property identified to be kidnappers’ den whether the owner lives in Enugu or outside.
