The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr Kingsley Udeh, says products exhibited and ideas presented at the Enugu Tech Festival 2026 will be collated and evaluated for commercial viability and sponsorship.
Udeh said this at the Enugu Tech Festival 2026 (ETF 2.0) with the theme: “Coal to Code: Energy in New Form”, held at the Enugu International Conference Centre.
“I am making a firm commitment that the Tech Fest will not simply end as an event, the products exhibited and ideas presented will be collated and rigorously evaluated for commercial viability.
“Those with strong potential will receive funding support through collaboration between the Federal Government, Enugu State and interested venture capital partners.
“This aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to commercialise research outcomes and translate innovation into jobs,” he said.
Udeh lauded Gov. Peter Mbah and the Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr Lawrence Ezeh, for a clear vision and moving with time as well as refocusing youths towards tech-innovation and new emerging skills.
“I commend the Enugu State Government for its leadership in embedding technology into governance, from digital processes to smart infrastructure and forward-looking educational investments.
“This deliberate focus on science and innovation is positioning the state as a leading hub in Nigeria’s knowledge economy,” he said.
According to him, the Enugu Tech Festival represents a powerful tool for legacy; as the platform connects young innovators, startups, researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to pay close attention to solutions that matter.
Udeh noted that there was an urgent need for Nigeria to move from being a net importer of technology to becoming a producer, an exporter and a strong stakeholder in the global innovation ecosystem.
“What I witnessed over the course of this Tech Fest and touring its exhibition stands is a clear evidence that this transition is already underway.
I saw solutions that directly address (personal and national socioeconomic challenges).
“Our young people are taking their destinies into their own hands, building solutions that address real challenges across sectors, from security and governance to business, artificial intelligence, and the creative economy.
“Science, Technology, and Innovation are no longer abstract concepts. They are practical tools for livelihood, economic growth and national development.
“The energy and ingenuity displayed reaffirm my confidence that Nigeria’s future will be shaped by innovators who understand that technology must solve real problems and create real value,” he said.
He noted that tech-innovation is becoming part of Nigeria’s culture; adding that Nigerians are not merely users of innovation; “we are creators”.
“What I saw at this Tech Fest proves that the Nigerian talent is ready to compete globally,” he added.
